Practice Plan #9 (JL)

  • 8 min: Figure 8 crossovers; flights of 4
  • 10 min - "Lightning" drill (zig zag cones) w/ laps; single foot, outside edge; forwards/backwards in each lane (NOTE: emphasize foot stops to backwards, and open hip to fowards on each pivot); redo with pucks (medium speed)

  • Water Break

  • Station #1 (10 min each) - Shooting Practice; wrist shot and flick shot; coach reviews, then choose a shooter to shoot on goalie.
  • Station #2 (10 min each) - Circular Passing (star formation); then piggy-in-the-middle (can't pass to person beside you)
  • Water Break
  • (10 min) - St. Louis drill; make pass after skating a few strides; look for target!.... all pucks to bench when completed.
  • (10 min, time permitting) - puck chase; both players (lying down); on whistle, chase the puck down the slot; shoot on net.
